that the words of the book were given a beat
I started Book of Mormon Rap as a way to share my experiences and insights on the importance of reading scripture and listening to our parents.
When I was in college, I had an mp3 CD that had 157 songs from rap, hip/hop, reggaeton, etc. One time I was taking my Mom to an appointment and she took notice of the message being shared through the music. My response to her was that I like the beat and pay no attention to the words. It was a few weeks later that I realized I knew all the lyrics to all the songs and they had engraven in my mind a message I would not want to share with Jesus.
For the rest of the semester and the rest of my college commute, I would dedicate my drive time to listening to The Book of Mormon and I'd go on to memorize the first four chapters of 1 Nephi.
At Book of Mormon Rap, my mission is to provide another way to study scripture and listening to God's Word. This won't be limited to music, but other study aids that can help us grow our faith.
